The PS3 Consoles video game console may seem expensive, but you more than get your money's worth. I has great games, it's a blu ray player, and it works great as a media center.
First and foremost it's about the games. Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, Grand Theft Auto IV, FallOut 3, Encharted, and Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction are just some of the fantastic games available.
The second best reason to buy the system is blu ray. Granted I have only seen a few blu ray disk movies, but what I have seen is fantastic. The prices for blu-ray movies are a bit highers than DVDs, but you get you money's worth if you have an HD TV.
In addition to being a great gaming machine and blu ray player it's also fantastic as a media center for movies, music, and pictures with many options for editing and organization. The system is user friendly with devices connected through USB, and with SD cards. 80GB will be plenty of space for most, and for those that need more upgrading with USB external harddrives is easy.
I love my PS3 Consoles. It's not for everyone though. Those simply looking for a gaming machine and nothing more might want to wait for a price drop or go elsewhere. For those who want more than a gaming machine for the reasons I mentioned above the PS3 Consoles is the next generation console you have to own
PS3 Consoles - A very high quality piece of equipment
I own both a 360 and a PS3 Consoles. I have no preference towards MS or Sony in general (i.e. I'm not a "fanboy" of either). I've seen enough evidence of games for both systems so far that the 360 does have a noticeable edge on graphics for games that are released for both systems. But PS3 Consoles-only titles like Uncharted, GT5, and MGS are stunning. I'm sure in time dual-system titles will look equally good on the PS3 Consoles. I mainly bought the PS3 Consoles for its Blu-Ray capabilities and for the PS3 Consoles-only titles. Cannot wait for God of War!!!
This unit is very quiet and despite temporary graphic shortcomings (game developer's faults though) this is very cool. No slide-out tray for discs, eject and power buttons are sleek and sense pressure instead of clicking up and down. Blu-Rays look good to me, but I haven't owned any other BR player so I can't compare.
I'm not sure what else to say about it that hasn't already been said. It's a very high quality piece of equipment and has/will have some great exclusive titles.
Do yourself a favor. Don't agonize over which system to get (360 or PS3). Get them both!
